About Me

Yeo Bee Yin was elected as the State Assemblywoman for Damansara Utama on 5th May 2013 – the youngest member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly. She contested the first time in the 13th General Election and won with 83.6% of the votes and 30,689 majority (highest majority for state seats in Malaysia).

Bee Yin is currently the National Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Vice Chairwoman of Pakatan Harapan Youth, and Political Education Director of DAP Wanita Selangor. She is an engineer by training, with a first-class honours degree from University Technology Petronas, and a master’s degree (with Commendation) from the University of Cambridge. She was a recipient of the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship for her post-graduate studies.

Bee Yin is actively involved in DAP's Impian Malaysia movement as one of the first pioneers in the first Impian Sarawak project at Kg Sait, Sarawak. To help the underprivileged community in her constituency, her office runs 2 free tuition centers -- located in Damansara Bistari and Kampung Chempaka, for students aged 7 to 17 from low-income families; as well as foodbank programs to give monthly basic necessities subsidies to more than 100 hardcore poor families.

In addition, she believes strongly in the role of the young generation in nation building. She's actively involved in developing Malaysian youths. Thousands of Malaysian youths benefitted from the many youth development programs her team organized since 2013. She also takes interns regularly to help university students to better understand real politics in Malaysia. She has also been invited to speak to youths in many parts of Malaysia.
